Just Too Darn Gorgeous

Today on the way home from Sunday dinner at my parent’s home I saw the most wonderful pedestal mailbox at the end of one of their neighbors drive way. There is just something about the look of these pedestal mailboxes that I just adore and it makes me wish that we could use one for our mailbox use, but alas we are required to use the wall mailbox type that everyone in our neighborhood uses. I do believe that if we were to buy and install a mailbox at the end of the drive way that it would cause a hassle for our mail carrier, but honestly I’ve never really investigated the issue and have just gone with the flow of things.

What I’d really love to have is one of those beautiful victorian pedestal mailboxes like the ones that simplyvictorianmailboxes.com has for sale. If you get the chance to check out this site I’ll just bet you will see several that float your boat as well. Isn’t this one just too gorgeous? Maybe I’ll ask our mail carrier next time I get the opportunity to see him and ask him what would happen if I chose to use one of these and see what he says, couldn’t hurt right?

Flying the American Flag

My parents always had an American flag flying on the flag poll in the backyard, I spent my an hour watching that flag flying in the breeze all year round, I spent a good amount of time outside back then, our back yard was set up great for us kids to play and have fun in.

I would like to own a flag of my mine to fly from my front porch before the 4th of July comes around. It needs to be a sturdy flag, one that I don’t have to worry about getting beaten up from the wind day in and day out. And I’ll need a flag pole with the brackets to attach to one of the front porch columns that I have chosen for just this purpose.

I’ll be doing my flag shopping online, I’m sure that there are deals to be found on the Internet, and I really can’t think of any stores around town that would have a good quality flag, besides Walmart, and I don’t want to have to go there. They have good prices, but I really need and want quality and that isn’t always an option there.

My Mom and I

Spent the day at my mom’s house, helping her with a few projects that she needed help with. It was a good day to be inside with all of the rain that we have been getting the past couple of days. My dad is out of town so it was good to hang out with mom, having her all to myself. She was telling me how she really wants to buy one of those wall fountains that are beginning to become popular again, so I got her on my laptop that I brought along and found a few websites that have wall fountains for sale and checked out the varieties that they have. They aren’t as expensive as I thought they would be which was a pleasant surprise, heck now I want one too!

Check out this one that I fell in love with today…

Ants

Each time spring arrives, the dreaded ants arrive in my kitchen and bathroom. They are going for any food, my sugar bowel appears to be just fine, it seems that they are attracted to water. How weird is that. Time to go to the store and pick up more ant spray and traps, sigh…..

Backyard Get-a-Way

What I wouldn’t give to have a beautiful backyard get-a-way such as so many people have these days. I work really hard out back and spend a good amount of money on making it nice but I am only one person with a limited budget to work with. I have always wanted a pond out back along with some nice bamboo fencing to really set if off nicely. I’ve seen some really nice bamboo poles and bamboo fencing in other people’s backyards and I think it looks so nice and natural like there.

I have a nice garden going on out there, a bar-b-q grill, patio furniture, hanging planters and lanterns, which look great but there is still a good amount of work to be done. I tend to get a bit impatient at times and today I’m just stressing out on things that normally wouldn’t bother me. I guess I need a glass of wine, a bubble bath and a good book after dinner and pray that tomorrow I’ll be back to my old self.
