For some reason this morning I woke up before the sun was even up. I could see a hint of the dawn in the Eastern sky from my kitchen window as I stood in front of the sink and filled my coffee pot. The birds were already chirping and the street was quiet – no cars yet.I really did enjoy that little hour of solitude this morning. Now the sun is shining and the temperature is up in the 70’s with a nice little breeze. I can’t wait to get outside and enjoy the rest of my day picking the last of the garden vegetables and planting daffodil bulbs for next spring.

Times have certainly changed with all that the Internet brings to us. I can’t imagine having kids and then having to deal with the task of talking with them about the subject of sex. My mother really never gave me “the talk” she basically left it up to my older sisters to tell me what I needed to know, that and junior high health class.
My friends and I had all kinds of ideas in our heads that we all had heard rumors of back in the day. None of us had a clue and had no where to turn for good quality information concerning our curiosity of nature’s human sexual behavior. There was no way any of us were going to ask our health teacher any questions that were burning in our immature brains at that point.
I remember starting my period during school and I had to go to the nurse’s office to get the appropriate sanitary napkins to use until I went home. That evening when my mother came home from work, I worked up the courage to tell her that I had finally started my cycle. Her response to me was “Well it’s about time!” and she brought me into her room, gave me a pamphlet about the subject and sent me upstairs to have my sisters fill me in with any details or questions. I was totally freaked out at her reaction and felt very foolish.
Too bad we didn’t have the Internet back then. There are good informational sites out there such as HealthGuru.com that would have helped us so much back then. All we had we the library to turn to, and we didn’t use it to our advantage when it came to this subject that was such a taboo back then.

Although most people get on my nerves, I do enjoy talking with people, you can learn some fascinating things when you actually listen to what is being spoken and I’m afraid that the art of listening has become a thing of the past. Folks love doing the speaking, but are for the most very bad listeners.Last week, at work, a co worker of mine had to bring her mother-in-law into the office for a while, waiting for the time to arrive so that she could take her to a doctor’s appointment. The mother-in-law (who’s name is Rhonda) ended up sitting right close to my desk and we had a very pleasurable conversation for close to an hour about all types of things, she turned out to be a very interesting and entertaining lady.

I’ve been experienced some plumbing issues around the place lately. I’ve had a few friends come over and take a look to see if it was something simple that could be tended to before calling my landlord with repair issues. The toilet has been steady leaking onto my floor and it isn’t getting any better, no matter what I have done to it and I’m tired of dealing with it. The floor is going to get ruined and the wooden cabinets under the sink beside the toilet is started to be effected by the water, even though I have a large bowl under the leak in an effort to catch the dripping waters.
Yesterday I had my fill of dealing with the issue myself and turned to my landlord for assistance. He has just phoned to tell me that he has found a good Austin Plumber that will be coming by the place tomorrow. I’m glad to hear it and now I have to get the bathroom in order and things moved around once again to accommodate this much anticipated visit from a professional plumber who will hopefully take care of the problem once and for all so that I can put an end to this major pain in the rear.

My sister’s husband was laid off of his job a few weeks ago and at the time he thought that it wasn’t too big of a deal, thinking that he could find something by the end of that week. Well surprise, surprise, things are rough all over and they are by no means in this boat all by themselves.I hope that they get their unemployment check soon, because with kids you never know when you will need to haul them off to the doctor or the E.R. and those bills can add up quick and who needs that extra added worry? Mothers and dads have enough to worry about these days with the price of gas and food and everything else for that matter.
