Thunder Storms

I love it during the spring and summer months when we experience the thunder and lightening storms at night. As a kid I was totally scared of the noise and would hide under the covers, but times have changed and I look forward to sitting on my back porch and watch what the good lord provides for us to witness.

Beads-A-Plenty

My best friend is looking for ways to make some extra money. She has came up with the idea of making and selling jewelry at the local flea market, which is right outside of the city limits and is lately always jammed packed  full of vendors and buying customers each Saturday and Sunday. She has been dabbling in beads for a few years and has gotten quite good at it, so it only makes sense that she can put her new found talent on the market and make a few bucks to help out during these horrible economic stressful times.

She has turned to the Internet and has found some good quality wholesale beads at  foxyfindings.com, which offers beads, chains, supplies, findings, tools, videos, DVDs and everything under the sun that she would need to get her up and running. They frequently have 99 cent sales which she could take advantage of with many of their items at 90% off retail prices. That is a nice chunk of change to be saved.

I took a look at foxyfindings.com myself and was happy to see all the beautiful gemstone beads that they have listed, with Jade being my personal favorite. These semi precious gemstone beads give jewelry a lasting value that can last a life time and are nice looking and very affordable for what she has in mind.

Memorial Day Weekend

I love a three day weekend but Tuesday sure is a hard day to go back to work on after one, ya know? Memorial Day should be Memorial Week!! After all, it’s supposed to be a day to remember those that have died for us. There should be one day for those that are still considered MIA, a day each for those who died in each war and with all that considered, it should be Memorial Week!

Oh The Heat, The Humidity & The Mosquitoes

Besides the heat and the humidity that we get to look forward to come July and August, the issue of mosquitoes is always a concern. I have a small fish pond in the backyard that I always have to be careful with so that these pesky critters don’t take over and make life miserable with all their biting,  the itching and the constant swatting of.

And of course there is always the concern of the West Nile virus that becomes an issue each summer as well. I’ve never known anyone to contact this disease that is spread by mosquitoes, but each year the news is full of cases being reported all over the country. What with the swine flu scare that we are experiencing and now we have to concern ourselves with the good old reliable West Nile virus that is expected to start hitting in the next couple of weeks.

I’ve been looking into purchasing some of the new and exciting mosquito magnets that I’ve been recently hearing and reading about. I went online and found some positive sounding mosquito magnet reviews, so it looks like I’ll be giving them a try this year and see what they can do for me back in the pond area this season.

Looking in the Mirror

Poking around in the closet I came across an interesting find. There was a framed poem about the “Woman in the Mirror.” The poem was written in a stylized lettering and laid over a silhouette of a girl’s face. The poem speaks to the pride one must have in one’s own actions, as you have to face the woman in the mirror every day.

Not sure where this came from, but I’m glad that I stumbled across, it looks great on the wall in the hall way!
