Changing Career Paths

With all the layoffs and companies going bankrupt, a lot of people are looking for the silver lining in this economic downturn. One bright spot is that the loss of one job gives you the opportunity to change career paths and pursue new dreams and personal goals. If I had the chance to change my own career path I would search out a top culinary school and become a chef.

As much as I love to cook, I think a career in a professional kitchen would be very satisfying. I’ve even searched online to see what schools are in the middle of the state. I found the Art Institute listed, which would be perfect for me. This site has information on both schools and careers, which makes it easy to find the information needed to make the career transition. There are so many ways to change career paths these days, evening classes and online options out the yahoo!

A lot of people have flocked to further their education to get into the medical field, from which one would like there would always be need for. But now I am hearing the this Obama Care is all ready making medical businesses start laying off and readjusting their budgets and all hell is going to let loose here real soon.

School Ideas

Going back to school is something that I have been thinking about and keeping in the back of my head for several years now and I am now researching the idea a bit more and the urge to learn something interesting is getting mighty powerful. It just makes sense considering that the company that I work for will pay the majority of the bill and it will possibly raise the amount of money that I am earning, depending on what courses/classes that I take.

Today at our H.R. department I was given a good amount of literature that they keep on hand and piled up in that department, one of the papers suggested going online and looking at the professional engineering courses that are available to take by going to many websites that they made available to me in all of the papers that I came home with to go through.

There are several areas that I’m interested in and it will take some time to figure out just what path I want to take, but one class stood out from all of the others, it is called Future Energy Sources and is described briefly as follows: “This course describes the state-of-the art, cutting edge efforts by scientists and engineers in the United States who are involved with research to continue to find alternate energy sources for the future.” I really like the sound of that and want to look further into it as soon as possible.

Poetry and Tarps

Men are such strange creatures. Of all the gifts that I poured my heart and soul into purchasing for my boyfriend, not that I showered him with a lot of presents this year, but there was certainly no shortage of gifts under the tree this morning, he seemed thrilled the most with the tarps that I bought for him! I’m totally serious, his face lit up like the Christmas tree when he opened the box that contained three tarps. One clear tarp, one canvas tarp and one silver tarp that I had purchased online because I knew he had expressed his concern on the condition of his current tarps that are all beat and torn up. He has a touch of O.C.D. and certain things (like battered tarps on his nice equipment) can drive him right up the wall.

My favorite gift that he gave me was a book of poetry “Images of Love” put out by Victoria’s Secret (I didn’t even know that they sold books) a collection of some wonderful poems with beautiful illustrations by various poets, old and new. I noticed that it says Volume II on the cover. I’m going to keep my eyes open for Volume I, maybe I can find it online, since there are no brick and mortar book stores anywhere around here anymore. The closest one is almost two hours away. Breaks my heart to see so many book stores closing down all due to the Internet.

How A Bachelor’s Degree Can Help

My long time friend with a  bachelors in web development is taking her stores mobile. She owns and runs about twenty online stores that sell everything from novelties to DVDs and other items more eccentric for adults. She also wants to open up several more stores around the same themes but with more focus on one type of product instead of a general store and she asked for me help in creating this new type of store so I agreed to give her a hand to bring her stores onto mobile devices across the globe. In my opinion this will take up quite a bit of my spare time over the next couple of weeks and probably will not get much blogging done but who knows I may just use this as a chance to blog about some of the plans and bugs we run into while creating this next generation of sites.

Making mobile websites means it has to look good on all the top Cellular providers networks and on any browser and the only way to achieve this by making a Web Standards Compliant website. Net Objects Fusion 10 is what I use for Web Authoring Software being Web Standards compliant has made me a dedicated user something I’ve complained about for years along with about a dozen other Net Object Fusion frustrations. But now I must admit the new Net Objects Fusion is a lot more user friendly to me than Adobes Software which I recommend first to anyone looking for Mobile Web Development Software, but since I’ve had Fusion after Fusion since the beginning and now a dozen or so updates later I have more experience and skill with using this tool than any other I figured I would give them a go.
