Besides the heat and the humidity that we get to look forward to come July and August, the issue of mosquitoes is always a concern. I have a small fish pond in the backyard that I always have to be careful with so that these pesky critters don’t take over and make life miserable with all their biting, the itching and the constant swatting of.
And of course there is always the concern of the West Nile virus that becomes an issue each summer as well. I’ve never known anyone to contact this disease that is spread by mosquitoes, but each year the news is full of cases being reported all over the country. What with the swine flu scare that we are still experiencing out breaks now and then and now we have to concern ourselves with the good old reliable West Nile virus that is expected to start hitting in the next couple of weeks, right along with the cicadas. I actually have seen a few of this 17 year old cycling cicadas. So far they have both been dead. I can hear them buzzing from a distance and just know that at any given moment the are going to be right on top of us and life will totally change and revolve all around these nasty critters.
I’ve been looking into purchasing some of the new and exciting mosquito magnets that I’ve been recently hearing and reading about. I went online and found some positive sounding mosquito magnet reviews, so it looks like I’ll be giving them a try this year and see what they can do for me back in the pond area this season.

My boyfriend and I have been thinking about getting a puppy and making it part of the family. I had talked to my brother in-law about it and he told me to make sure it a safe breeder puppy, which I wasn’t completely clear on how to do what he was talking about, but when I asked him, he told me to go onto the Internet and to Google the words puppy mills and read up on the subject.
So I did and I found that you can learn so much about what you can look for, and what kind of things you should find out before you go to the store and see a cute puppy, purchase it and walk out. You can save hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars just by taking the time to do a bit of research, and of course with the Internet it can’t get much easier than that.

This time of the year I spend a good amount of my time at our local Home Depot store in town, looking for various spring time deals that will help me save money and still have a decent looking yard and garden. They have the best selections of plants in town and they are guaranteed to boot, with my brown thumb I need all the guarantees that I can get.
I have learned to go online before shopping anywhere these days to see what type of internet promo codes I came utilize to the fullest extent. These days we all really need to make our pennies go further and further in order to keep our heads above water. It doesn’t look like the economy is going to get any better any time soon. We all used to think that there was a light at the end of the tunnel, but after all these years it is getting difficult to imagine any light at all. Of course if you watch the news they are all trying so hard to keep things positive and feed us numbers that have been manipulated to try and keep us all feeling better about the whole situation.

Back in the day when I was a little girl my mother would buy cans of Reddi Whip whipped cream. We would have a dessert after almost every dinner because my dad loved dessert. We always saved room for dessert! We used Reddi Whip on a lot of the desserts.Sometimes dessert was as simple as a little cup of Breyer’s ice cream. Mom would squirt some Reddi Whip on top and put a maraschino cherry or little sugar sprinkles on it. At least once a week we would have some kind of pie and once a week we would have some kind of cake. In between those we might have Jello with Reddi Whip squirted on top.
My favorite these days is warm ginger bread topped off with good old Reddi Whip!

I finally got word from my kid sister that she has landed a job with well known and well established Criminal Defense Lawyer Phoenix and is supposed to report to these DUI and Criminal Defense Lawyers first thing in the morning of April 2nd which should give her a bit of time to finish unpacking from their recent move out west and be ready for work. This is great news considering the bad luck that has been following her and her fiance since leaving here to go west.
It has been one thing after another. The rental truck that was filled with all of their belongings which they were driving out west in broke down and kept them stranded in the middle of the desert in Texas for 2 days was only the beginning of the streak of bad luck. The new rental that they were given had a serious leak issue and a lot of their stuff got ruined and then they had a flat tire on top of that.
When they finally arrived in Arizona, her fiance slipped and lost his balance on a set of stairs and he ended up breaking his right wrist so now he isn’t able to do much to help her with all of the unpacking of their stuff and she is 3 months pregnant and really shouldn’t be doing hard labor, which we all know goes with a move.
This new job might be the only thing that will save them at this point and I am praying that nothing else happens to either one of them or the baby of course. I miss them all so much.
