Most of use grew up with the fact that safety comes first, it was pounded into our heads at a very early age, and rightfully so. I am amazed at all of the people that I see at the mall and out and about the community that are using canes, walkers, wheelchairs and the like. We are fast becoming a society full of not only obese, but disabled people, as well. Take a look around and take notice, I’ll bet you’ll be surprised at what you see.

At my work place, safety is now finally a major issue. We are all being cautioned about making sure we are aware of the numerous safety hazards that we deal with on a daily basis. With workman compensation claims being on the up rise, they are making a serious effort to keep us safe from harm and keeping their insurance premiums under control.

We are receiving new equipment that replaces some very outdated ones that we have been stuck with for so very long. New hard hats  that are now specifically made for men and women are being seen. Also new and improved safety vests  and safety glasses and goggles, for the folks that need this type of protection are recently becoming abundant. I work in one of their office environments, myself, so I’m not in need of any these types of safety equipment, but I was glad to see that some new first aid kits are being placed in all of the departments for our use. Our old ones were pretty well picked over and lacking most of the essentials that are needed by many of us from time to time.

I’m so very envious of a close friend and co worker, she has been starting to plan, what sounds to be, a very wonderful, exciting and romantic vacation with her boyfriend, at Lake Tahoe, just the two of them, leaving her two kids with her mother.  She has just recently found a website that has taken the work out of finding the perfect lake tahoe vacation rentals, and she is exploring the many opportunities that Lake Tahoe has to offer them.

She has accumulated two weeks of vacation and is planning on spending the entire two weeks living life to the fullest and having a blast. Just today she announced that she is looking for a Bed and Breakfast, she likes the romantic aspect that they provide and she is finding a good amount of them and is having a difficult time deciding on which one to decide on, and has turned to us other gals for help and suggestions with her particular vacation rentals needs and desires.

Every one needs and deserves a vacation and she made a New Year’s resolution that she was going to live life to the fullest and start seeing and doing things such as this much anticipated trip. Now why didn’t I think of that, don’t I wish. It will be some time before I earn enough paid vacation leave to experience something of this magnitude, and money is so very tight these days, I can’t believe that she is really going through with this, during these uncertain economic times, but the more power to her for having the guts to splurge and live a little.

What ever she decides on, I’m sure will be delightful, she plans on taking plenty of pictures to bring back to share with us and she may even drop us a postcard, she will have plenty of time to find one, write something and get it into the mail for us to receive before she returns back and back to work with the rest of us once again.
