Cinderella a Classic Nouveau Riche (newly rich) Story

One of my all time favorite fairy tales is Cinderella. I could watch that movie over and over again and never get tired of it. My niece told me that last year in her English class that they were given numerous variations of the classic tale of Cinderella to read and she was amazed (and I as well) at how this nouveau riche  (newly rich) story has changed through out the years and is told in so many different languages these days.

Cinderella is considered a nouveau riche story due to that fact that Cinderella came from such rags and came into riches when her prince finally came and rescued her from her evil step mother and crazy step sisters. From rags to riches, such a classic. My niece had never heard the phrase “nouveau riche”, which didn’t surprise me. It really isn’t a term used much these days. So she was grateful for the Internet and Wikipedia to enlighten her on the subject. It’s great that these kids these days have the Internet to use for their researching, it sure beats having to get to the library and spend so much time digging through numerous books and magazines for their needed information. Wish we had that opportunity back in my days of schooling.

So What Is The Truth About St. Valentine’s Day Anyway

Pagan Roots of Valentine’s Day

How come this year is the first time that I’ve heard that there are numerous stories and/or versions about the origin of tomorrows holiday, St. Valentine’s Day. I was listening to one of the several talk radio stations today and they were talking about the various versions about this holiday that is celebrated each year on February 14th. I just couldn’t wrap my brain around the fact that I had really had no idea that there was any confusion on why we spend so much money on cards, balloons, candy, stuffed animals and all the other merchandise that flies off the shelves at all the stores all across the country.

So last night I went online for a bit and decided to look around and see what all the hoopla was about. I don’t know what to believe at this point, but I thought that this video that I found on YouTube.com was really interesting and thought I’d place it here on my blog. Of course you certainly can’t believe all that you read and/or hear in real life, much less the Internet, so it would be great to get some feedback on this subject and this video from some of my readers.

Child Proofing

I saw this video on the Ellen Degeneres Show and thought it was so cool, so I thought that I would try and find it on YouTube, and I actually did! I love YouTube, but I have been looking back at some of my previous posts and am not happy that some of the YouTube videos that I posted here on my blog are no longer available for one reason or another.

So let this be a fair warning to my buddies here, that check in on me here on my blog, that I apologize if you stumble onto one of my posts that is going on and on about this great and wonderful video that I found on YouTube and it’s not there any more. If I wasn’t so lazy I’d try and find another version but I just haven’t gotten into that type of mode as of yet. Might be something to do on a cold, snowy day that we will be experiencing at any time now considering it is the middle of December.

I sure hope that this video disappears, it is just too cute to lose. I wonder if there is any way to down load or up load the video onto a thumb drive or on my hard drive that would save it from being removed from the actual YouTube.com site. I’ll have to ask my kid brother and see what he says. I would be surprised if he didn’t have some type of answer for me even if it is a “no that can’t be done” answer.

Everything and the Kitchen Sink

My cat, Jada, is my best friend, I enjoy her company each day. She is my sunshine, always amusing me with her playfulness and unconditional love. She has a few favorite places around the apartment that she likes to cat nap in, usually as close to me as she can get. She also has plenty of places that she plays and entertains us both in, one being the kitchen sinks. I have a stainless steel, double sink in the kitchen, that she is fascinated with, if there is the slightest drip from the faucet, Jada will be entertained for most of a full hour or so.

I think she also likes the feeling of the coolness in the sink, she seems most content there, when it isn’t full of dishes. It was so cool that I was surfing the YouTube for funny animal video’s, they always make me laugh and put a smile on my face. The cat and kitten video’s are the best, and I found one video with a cat, that looks so much like mine, in the kitchen sink, a double stainless steel one at that. I enjoyed it so much that I’d share it here, and I’ll catch you on the flip!

Joe Cocker

Joe Cocker was always considered an “odd duck” but his music was just totally awesome. I had to get me some Joe Cocker music out of my system today. YouTube has become my BFF these past couple years allowing to find some of the most amazing music and their videos. Music is Life and Life is Music!
